TP-Link router

To use a tested and recommended TP-Link wifi router in the StudNet, follow the setup instruction:

The wifi router must be connected with the single (blue) WAN/Internet port to the network socket in your room. If you are using one of the LAN ports your network socket could be locked or the network connection will not work.

To set up your wifi router visit the configuration website. You will find the address on the back of the wifi router, in the manual or use the IP address you have chosen during previous setups.

The configuration website likely has one of the following addresses:

Use the login data printed on the back of the wifi router for access to the configuration website, if you have not already changed the login credentials.

Setup Internet connection

The following things have to be configured:

  • under Network → WAN change Connection Type to PPTP or PPTP/Russia PPTP
  • in Username enter your StudNet user ID
  • in Password enter your password, which you choose at StudNet account registration
  • the Server IP Address/Name is:

If you have lost your user name or password you can reset your account.

The router should now connect to the network. The status Connected should appear and the Internet IP address should NOT be „“ anymore.

If there are problems to establish a connection check Username, Password and server IP Address/Name again.

On the devices connected to the wifi router, a dial-in using the Internet login is NOT NEEDED anymore. The wifi router will establish a connection automatically if one of the connected devices tries to connect to the Internet.
